Modern tech designed to help pick mushrooms in a safer, more efficient and sustainable way to grow and pick mushrooms. Single layer growing beds spanning half a kilometre make light work for growers and help make recycling soil faster for a circular recycling economy.

This multi-disciplinary project could only be achieved through close collaboration with the client and consultants.

Solutions have been formulated in water conservation using irrigation systems and dams to collect water run-off, together with tapered mushroom beds to better facilitate the collection of separated materials, allowing for 100% of farm peat moss and soil to be recycled.

Equally important is the human aspect of the site with a strong focus on the needs of the workers. This included ergonomic designs for low lying single tiered of mushroom beds, reducing the need for reach and risk of repeated strain injuries. Furthermore, the need for housing of employees and onsite facilities for rest. Break out spaces to facilitate connection and gathering have also been considered to improve workplace culture and staff retention.

The new farming sheds span more than 1 km each and bring some of the worlds cutting edge technology from Amsterdam to the local growing industry.
